Through the relentless battles, we have achieved to make CHEERS known in the Chinese Wine industry. There is no way to fight against it unless we keep improving ourselves with faster and smarter solutions to stay ahead of our competitors and copycats.ĬHEERS has been the first mover in the Beijing wine market through the new retail concept to make wines affordable and accessible with a focus to a young consumer group. However, through the tough times and experiences, I’ve learnt to take things in stride and appreciate that the authentic CHEERS has risen to become one of the top brands in the industry. It took us quite a while to develop this concept and I felt “robbed” when everything was copied. While I have heard of and read a lot about it it is a different story to be experiencing it firsthand. They say imitation is the highest form of flattery, and it was especially so in China. I just couldn’t believe that I stood in a store which looks exactly like CHEERS, even to the smallest details. I remember vividly that it (copying) was such a shocking concept to me I was speechless. During the first five years at CHEERS, it was a rough ride and I remember that there was this particular moment when things got tough for the first time.ĭuring the first year of our operations, we had five stores opened and that was when we found the first copycat that appeared in the market. “If you are going through hell, keep walking.” During these moments, it is Churchill’s words, At times, you may find yourself in the middle of a crisis that is so gruelling it makes you give up.
